Wedding programs do not just provide useful information, they can also provide your guests with a pleasant memento to remember your wedding by. These programs come in the form of a small booklet and they contain information about the ceremony such as the names of the bridal party (which sometimes includes their relationship to the bride or groom), the order of events at the ceremony and the titles of the readings and songs from the ceremony. Also, some couples use this program to honor deceased loved ones, to thank those who where integral to the wedding planning, or to explain aspects of the ceremony that are unfamiliar or distinct.
A traditional wedding program is a booklet that bears the couples names or initials on the front cover and has pages that are bound with a sating ribbon by a stationer. However, if you want a less expensive option, you could use a piece of heavy stock paper with a vellum overlay and, instead of using a stationer, tie the pieces together with your bridesmaids. Tie it together with a ribbon that reflects your color scheme and you’ll still have a beautiful program. In addition, some couples are now including their favorite poems or the story detailing how they met or got engaged. Some couples decide that a more creative approach is appropriate for their wedding and they will creatively shape their booklet such as into a fan if they are having a beach or summer wedding.
If you are going to have formal, multi-paged programs, then you should order them with your invitations so they will be ready in time for distribution. Otherwise, you should order them about four to six weeks before the wedding, depending on the complexity and style.
