It is important to set limits on your floral budget because it is easy to get carried away and go overboard. Of your total wedding cost, including the bouquets, boutonnieres, ceremony and the decorations at the reception, you should count on spending about eight percent of your wedding budget on flowers. After you pick out the florist that is right for you, ask them immediately what great things they could do with the X amount of dollars you are able to spend. You absolutely need to know how much you are able and willing to spend when you go to the first meeting because it is very easy to get sucked into thousands of dollars of flowers that you will not be able to afford. Then you may be disappointed with what you had set your budget at and go beyond what you should. So make it clear at the onset what you can spend to avoid any misunderstandings or regret about what you can get because the florist should be able to work with you or else you need to find a new one.
However, when you set your budget, you may want to add in an extra ten percent because your wedding may require more than your budget dictates. If you can keep it within this range, you should be alright as long as you make up the money in other places. If you do spend more than eight percent of your total budget, don’t be surprised because there is so much to consider that it is difficult to be accurate.
